Speaking on the occasion, the DC said, “The land of Fatehgarh Sahib has an important place in Sikh history and is associated with the unparalleled martyrdom of the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh, Baba Fateh Singh and Mata Gujri.”

“As Diwan Todar Mal bought the land for the last rites of the Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri by raising the gold stamps, his name was written in golden letters in the pages of history books,” she added, noting that the Jahaj Haveli was in a very dilapidated condition but was being preserved as a heritage for the younger generation.

The DC said historical buildings like the haveli reflect the rich heritage of the state and highlighted the need to preserve them.

“The work is going on war footing to restore the building’s original look, so that the devotees visiting historical gurdwaras may also visit Jahaj Haveli and take inspiration for social service,” she added.
