Members of all Bar associations of the district today observed a strike and abstained from work in protest against the alleged high-handedness of the police.

An FIR was registered against lawyer Hasan Singh and his family members, who had earlier complained against Mani Warring, the brother of AAP MLA from Amloh Gurinder Singh Garry Birring, for allegedly thrashing him.

Led by president of District Bar Association AS Dharni, advocates today protested in front of the District Courts and raised slogans against the police, alleging instead of registering an FIR against the brother of Amloh MLA, Hasan and his family members were booked for snatching and looting.

They announced that they would continue the strike till February 15. He said if the FIR was not withdrawn, they would give a call for a state-level strike.

Dharni said neither the FIR, which was registered on January 22, was uploaded nor presented before magistrate till today. He said they had sought an appointment with the inspecting Judge to apprise him of the high-handedness of the district police.
