Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO being honoured by Desh Bhagat University Chancellor Dr Zora Singh during the 12th annual convocation of the university at Mandi Gobindgarh on Friday.

The state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is focused on providing transparent, merit-based job opportunities to youth.

In his address during the 12th convocation ceremony of Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, Power and Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO highlighted the government's commitment to tackling unemployment. He emphasised the pivotal role educational institutions played in shaping the future of the youth and the country.

In recognition of excellence, the university conferred honorary doctorates on several notable figures, including Prof Srinivas Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central University, New Delhi. University Chancellor Dr Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr Tejinder Kaur also addressed the gathering on the occasion.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
