Prof GS Bajpai, faculty member, National Law University, Delhi, has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala, for a term of five years.

The professor said he would join the office on Friday. Bajpai is a member secretary of a committee on criminal law reforms appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

The professor said he wanted to focus on faculty development, strengthening research culture on the campus and student initiatives during his tenure. He aims to focus on criminology and access to justice. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
