Guest faculty at Punjabi University today burnt an effigy of Vice-Chancellor Arvind demanding payment for work done throughout the year. They are on protest for the last 22 days.

The guest teachers (lecture based) said as per the university’s new circular they were required to work for 11 months and 25 days in a year but would be paid for eight months. This is inhumane treatment and is condemnable as we will be required to render our services for extra four months without pay. We want the university to pay us for our services on the terms applicable for college teachers, they said.

The faculty said they would continue their agitation until the matter was resolved.
