The Health Department today issued notice to three shopkeepers for operating without a valid licence as per the Food Standard Safety Act. The team also collected 12 samples of dairy products and other items from various shops in the city.

The team was led by District Health Officer (DHO) Shelly Jetly and Food Safety Officer Puneet Sharma.

Officials of the Health Department inspected various bakery, dairy and sweets shops in Anand Nagar and Dashmesh Nagar and collected 12 samples of food items, including milk, biscuits, cheese, curd and pastries, among others.

They also got expired food items destroyed on the spot and issued a warning to errant shopkeepers.

Jetly said the team found out that some shop owners were operating without licence as per the Food Standard and Safety Act.

“Such shopkeepers were directed to get the licences issued at the earliest,” she added.

She said, “The collected samples have been sent to laboratory for checking. The Health Department will initiate action against shopkeepers if samples fail the quality test.”
