Hotel sealed as Patiala MC intensifies crackdown on property tax defaulters

Following the directions of Mayor Kundan Gogia and Municipal Commissioner Paramvir Singh, the civic body has intensified action against property tax defaulters.

A team led by Joint Commissioner Deepjot Kaur and Assistant Commissioner Ravdeep Singh today sealed a hotel in Heera Bagh and a liquor vend in Joginder Nagar for failing to pay property tax.

The Joint Commissioner informed that the hotel owners later deposited Rs 2.7 lakh, following which the hotel was unsealed in the evening.

Additionally, three other units paid Rs 6 lakh in property tax on the spot, bringing the total collection for the day to approximately Rs 9 lakh.

The Municipal Corporation officials confirmed that the sealing drive will continue in the coming days. They urged city residents, particularly defaulters, to clear their outstanding property tax before March 31 to avoid penalties and interest charges.
