The local municipal corporation (MC) has started issuing challans to those involved in illegal sale of meat and fish products in the city.

Officials said MC sanitary inspectors today visited the fish market on the Central Library road and challaned shopkeepers selling fish and meat products without permission.

MC Joint Commissioner Jeevanjot Kaur said, “A number of shopkeepers sell meat and fish products illegally. A separate fish market has been developed on the Devigarh road. We will soon rid the city of the illegal sale of fish products.”
