In a first, helmet bank launched in Patiala

Taking a step towards road safety, Patiala Foundation, a city-based NGO, launched first helmet bank in the state today. The NGO has taken this initiative under its ongoing project – Patiala Foundation Sadak – in collaboration with the city police.
The helmet bank was launched at the local PCR unit of the traffic police. As many as 50 helmets were given to the PCR unit, which could be used by police personnel. Helmets would be issued on returnable basis and entries for all usage would be updated on the helmet bank app.
A team of the NGO conducted training workshop on using the app yesterday. The aim of the NGO’s initiative is to make two-wheeler riders habitual of wearing helmet in daily routine and save their lives.
