Patiala, January 27

The Department of History, Punjabi University, organised a special lecture on “Martyrdom of Shaheed Udham Singh and its contemporary relevance”. MLA Ghanaur Madan Lal Jalalpur was the chief guest at the occasion. Vice-Chancellor BS Ghuman talked about the contribution of of Shaheed Udham Singh in India’s struggle for freedom. He said, “It is because of the freedom fighters that we are able to live in a free country.

Sukhwinder Singh, renowned Punjabi poet, delivered a lecture and talked about various martyrs of Punjab and explained how they fought for India’s freedom, irrespective, of their religious attachments.

MLA Ghanaur Madan Lal Jalalpur, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said we should always remember the contribution of Shaheed Udham Singh.

A book, ‘Shaheed Udham Singh: Jeevan ate Sangarsh’, edited by Gurbhej Singh Guraya was also released on the occasion.
