The Government Railway Police have nabbed a drug peddler and recovered 1.9 kg of drugs from one person.

DSP Jagmohan Singh said under the directions of Special DGP (Railways) Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, the GRP team, led by SI Sukhwinder Singh, recovered opium from the Rajpura railway station and arrested one person.

The DSP said on platform No. 1, west end of Rajpura Railway Station, SI Sukhwinder Singh from CIA-2 GRP conducted a search of a person, identified as Baljeet Singh, a resident of Rahon village, in Ludhiana district. During the search, 1.900 kg of opium was recovered from him.

A case under Sections 18/16/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the GRP, Patiala.

The DSP stated that the accused was presented in court and one-day police remand was obtained for further investigation.
