Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat today paid tribute to Army soldier Harminder Singh, who was martyred in an encounter at Kulgam in Srinagar, during his ‘bhog ceremony’ held at his native village Badinpur.

The minister handed over a cheque of Rs 6 lakh as part of the Rs 1 crore assistance announced by the Chief Minister. He said the remaining Rs 94 lakh would be released soon after the completion of official formalities.

Bhagat also announced that the martyr’s brother would be provided a government job to ensure financial security for the family. He further said that a memorial would be constructed in the village in honour of Harminder Singh.

“The government will always stand by the family of the martyr,” Bhagat assured.
