The Department of Music, Punjabi University, organised its tenth annual Classical Music festival the Professor Tara Singh Patiala Sangeet Sammelan. The function was presided over by Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Narinder Kaur Multani.

The students of the Music Department, under the supervision of Prof Nivedita Singh, commenced the festival with a composition of Prof Tara Singh, a renowned music scholar and composer.

Chetna Pathak, a renowned vocalist from Mumbai, took over the stage later and opened her recital with Raag Madhuvanti. She also presented Raag Puriya Dhanashri and concluded her recital with a semi classical composition.

On the second day, Ustad Shakir Khan, son and disciple of Ustad Sahid Parvez, from Pune enthralled the audience with his scintillating Sitar recital accompanied on Tabla by Siddhartha Chaterjee from Amritsar. Prof Chaman Lal Bhalla from Ludhiana, a renowned vocalist of Punjab, also performed at the event.
