Musical event in memory of Mohammed Rafi at Patiala

Council president Paramjit Singh Parwana said the “Voice of God", Mohammed Rafi was an exceptional personality in the field of playback singing.

The Ramgarhia Cultural and Welfare Council organised a special musical function to mark the birth centenary of Mohammed Rafi. More than 15 singers regaled the audience with Rafi’s songs.

Council president Paramjit Singh Parwana said the “Voice of God", Mohammed Rafi was an exceptional personality in the field of playback singing.

Parwana also sang two songs. The other singers were Narendra Arora, Randeep Arora, Prince Sharma, Amrita Singh, Dr JS Parwana, Dr Harjinder Kaur Parwana, Ashwani Mehta, Davinder Singh Puri, Ujjwal Arora, Rajesh Pancholi, Surinder Singh, Kumar Vinay and Bashir Sayani.

Col Surinder Singh and Amritbir Singh Gulati, literary figure and social worker, were special guests. Gulati also announced sponsorship for the next programme of the council

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
