Deputy Commissioner Showkat Ahmad Parry today emphasised on maintaining Rajindra Lake’s water quality and formed an expert committee to oversee its maintenance.

Parry, who visited the lake to check water level and fountains, said on Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directives, efforts were underway to develop the lake into a beautiful recreational spot.

The deputy director of the Fisheries Department and Professor Manish Kapoor from Botany Department of Punjabi University will be the expert committee members, he said.

During the visit, he held a meeting with officials including Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Babandeep Singh Walia, Supervising Engineer Harkiran Singh, Executive Engineer of Irrigation Department Rajinder Ghai, Executive Engineer of Public Works Department Piyush Agarwal, Deputy Director of Fisheries Department Karamjit Singh and DDF Nidhi Malhotra.

They discussed ways to enhance Rajindra Lake complex’s beauty, security and management to make it an attractive recreational spot for locals and tourists.
