The Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) of the Patiala Municipal Corporation, led by Mayor Kundan Gogia, on Tuesday approved a budget of Rs 20 crore for restoring roads in 52 colonies impacted by the canal-based water supply project.

The meeting, attended by Commissioner Paramvir Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor Harinder Kohli and Deputy Mayor Jagdeep Jagga, also approve funding for 46 other development projects.

A sum of Rs 15 lakh was sanctioned for cleaning a major water body. Besides, Rs 9.74 lakh were allocated for constructing roads and alleys in 60 wards. Further, a budget of Rs 7.59 lakh was sanctioned for interlocking tiles and drainage pipes.

“The budget reflects our commitment to comprehensive development,” said Gogia.

Other agenda items given green light

* Creation of 15 recharge wells in rural wards.

* Widening of Focal Point Chowk and installation of interlocking tiles in targeted areas.

* Rs 34.23 lakh approved for the renovation of the Model Town municipal library.
