Employees of the Municipal Corporation today called off their strike following an assurance from local MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli. Kohli convened a meeting with the representatives of the Sanjhi Sangharsh Committee. He emphasised the promises made by the Punjab Government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to address the concerns of all sectors in the state were being diligently fulfilled. He assured the employees that the government would soon fulfil all their demands. He announced that the recruitment of 500 sanitation workers would be started by the government within a week to reinforce the workforce. The MLA said construction of a statue of Dr BR Ambedkar near municipal corporation office would commence shortly.
