Patiala MLA reviews progress of Rs 10-cr development projects

The MLA said the projects will strengthen civic infrastructure and provide modern facilities to the people of Patiala

Local MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli today inspected ongoing development projects worth nearly Rs 10 crore in his constituency. He was accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Paramvir Singh and officials of the civic body.

The projects include the construction of a community centre at Sanouri Adda with an estimated cost of Rs 2.5 crore, a library at Model Town at a cost of Rs 2.25 crore, a community centre at Model Town costing Rs 2.50 crore and a guest house at Model Town with an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore.

Kohli said these projects are landmark initiatives that will strengthen civic infrastructure and provide modern facilities to the people of Patiala. He added that the community centres and the guest house will prove to be a boon for middle-class families as they will be able to access affordable venues for social gatherings, weddings, family functions, and even the final rituals of their loved ones.

“While wealthy families can afford expensive marriage palaces, these facilities will ensure that common man of the humble middleclass too have access to well-equipped, low-cost spaces,” the MLA said.

Speaking about the library, he said it will serve as a vibrant hub for students, researchers, and knowledge seekers.
