Patiala Lok Sabha MP Dharamvira Gandhi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting for the reopening of the Kartarpur Corridor, which was closed last month in the wake of the border tensions between India and Pakistan.

As a member of Parliament’s Standing Committees on Railways, Gandhi highlighted numerous appeals from Punjabis, particularly Sikhs, who are eager to visit Kartarpur Sahib, the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev.

In his letter, Gandhi stressed that the corridor, inaugurated in 2019 to mark the 550th birth anniversary of the first SIkh Guru, stood as a powerful symbol of peace and religious unity. BJP leader Gurtej Singh Dhillon has also written to Modi requesting for the reopening of the corridor.
