An internal report of Punjabi University has found anomalies in the purchase of solar lights and use of official vehicle in the last couple of years and sought formation of a committee to probe the matter.

The report submitted by the NSS department to University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Arvind had found a number of anomalies in purchase and use of official vehicle. It said, “We have found anomalies in the stock register, including purchase of cycle and solar lights. The purchases are mentioned in the stock register but are missing from the department.”

The department officials said, “While checking old records of the department, we found that official vehicle was used from 2011 to 2015 on local routes without permission or NSS assignments wherein it was used to cover an average of 10 to 15 km per day. We are looking into the records of the remaining years.”
