A crucial aspect highlighted in the meeting was that help of retired police personnel should be taken in tackling the drug menace.

This initiative aimed to bridge the gap between serving and retired police personnel. Key topics included establishing regular interactions at the police station level to ensure continuous engagement with retired personnel, maintaining a register of retired police personnel at each station, and conducting regular meetings with Senior Superintendents of Police to address concerns and suggestions.

The DIG emphasised the importance of giving due respect to retired officers and directed the SSPs and other police officers to ensure it. Initiatives to organise retirement parties and appoint a nodal officer for retired police personnel were also discussed. Additional measures include providing fee concessions and job reservations in Police DAV Schools for the children of retired personnel, maintaining a special register for monitoring complaints by ex-policemen, and creating a WhatsApp group to facilitate communication and support.
