As a tourist I had some bad experiences there and I even complained to the police.
On my return, as I entered Patiala, I saw a board on which it was written “I love Patiala.” I immediately felt a strong sense of relief and happiness, because Patiala is a city rich in Punjabi culture, a city that doesn’t judge, a city which is safe.
Because here even dhabha owners call a girl “puttar” (my child). The amount of love which my city offers is unmatchable, no matter where you go. Even the golgappa vendor always remembers your preferences even if you visit him after years. Patialvis always say “Ji aiya nu” which means “You are welcome”. The tradition of langar seva, practised with lots of love, and many more of its generous traditions make Patiala worth living.
