Officials said the move aimed at making health services faster, more transparent and accessible to patients. The e-hospital project has been implemented through the open-source hospital management system developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Digital India initiative. It includes computerised OPD slips, lab information systems, unique hospital IDs, and digital billing facilities.

Dr Singh announced that four new courses (critical medicine, family medicine, palliative care and geriatric care) will be introduced at the hospital. He said a 300-bed trauma care hospital was also under construction and the super specialty block was being upgraded to reduce patient referrals to Chandigarh.

The newly inaugurated Patient Assistance Centre, built with support from Round Table India under the Kings XI, Punjab, will provide waiting and seating areas, Jan Aushadhi medicine facilities and a help desk for patients, senior citizens and the differently abled. Senior officials, including DRME Dr Avneesh Kumar, Director Principal Dr RPS Sibia and Medical Superintendent Dr Vishal Chopra were present on the occasion.
