Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Dr BS Ghuman said: “We have already started the process for shifting teachers from these colleges and centres where they are surplus. They will be shifted to other areas where we need their services.”

“A number of institutions under Punjabi University have not been able to admit even the necessary minimum students. This is why the university recently started holding meetings with centre heads to ensure better enrolment. The meetings were chaired by the University Vice-Chancellor himself,” a faculty member of one of the constituent colleges said.

The university last year issued as many as 47 advertisements for hiring guest faculty members at various centres in four months (from May to August).
