Peddler’s house demolished in Bassi Pathana

The police under the war against drugs campaign today demolished the illegal construction of a drug peddler. The house in question was constructed on government land in Ward Number 12 of Bassi Pathana town. The peddler, who is facing two cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, is absconding.

Addressing the media, Superintendent of Police (SP, investigation) Rakesh Yadav said the accused has been identified as Amit Kumar. He said that district police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Subham Aggarwal has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and strict action was being taken against drug traffickers as per the directions to make the district drug-free.

“The war against drugs campaign will continue,” he said before appealing to the people to share any information about suspicious activity with the police on the toll-free number.

The SP also urged the public to encourage addicts to seek help at the government drug de-addiction centres. “The police will provide them with a chance to live a better life in the society,” he added.

A large number of police personnel, led by DSP Bassi Pathana Raj Kumar, Municipal Council Executive Officer Sukhdev Singh also oversaw the demolition.
