Artistes from Punjabi University, Patiala, presented a play on drug abuse at MG Ashoka Girls Senior Secondary School in Sirhind today. The event was part of a campaign launched by the district police to create awareness among youth against drug abuse.

The play conveyed the message that addiction is a social evil. The play showed a trafficker luring youths with free drugs and when they became addicted to it, he demand huge money for it. Through the play, the artistes advised that one should not make friends with people older than one’s age, always keep a distance from drug addicts, read books during spare time and if anyone sells drugs to any of their friend or friends, give information to teachers or the police.

Principal Anju Kaura said it was moral responsibility of the society to create awareness against drug menace among students. She appreciated the efforts of the district police in this regard.
