All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) demanded the withdrawal of the privatisation agenda of the Government of India and sought expert power engineers to head the power utilities in the country.

The federal council meeting held here on Sunday was attended by 18 state constituents, including Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttrakhand ,Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Assam and Kerala.

Shailendra Dubey, who presided over the meeting, said to make the energy sector strong and self-reliant, expert power engineers should be posted in the top management positions in all power corporations. “The losses of the power sector are due to the wrong policies and decisions of the government and not due to the power sector employees and engineers,” he added.
