Principal Secretary, Jails, Bhawna Garg, and Additional Director General of Police (Jails), Arun Pal Singh, conducted a comprehensive inspection of Central Jail today.

The inspection included visits to the Women’s Ward, the Skill Development Centre—where certificates were distributed to inmates recently trained in various life skills—the De-addiction Ward, the Factory, and the Jail Hospital.

During the visit, Bhawna Garg and Arun Pal Singh interacted with inmates, heard their concerns, redressed grievances on the spot, and encouraged them to pursue positive transformation and rehabilitation. A brief cultural programme was also presented by the inmates, highlighting their talent and reformation efforts.

Sharing details Jail Superintendent Varun Sharma said the inspection concluded with a review of the newly constructed Video Conferencing Rooms and the refurbished Control Room. He added that the Principal Secretary and the ADGP issued necessary directions to the jail authorities to further enhance infrastructure, strengthen security, and ensure overall welfare of the inmates.

Those present on the occasion included Varun Sharma, Superintendent, Central Jail Patiala; Arpanjot Singh, Additional Superintendent; Jaideep Singh, Deputy Superintendent (Factory); Gurjeet Singh, Deputy Superintendent (Security); Dr. Aditi, Psychiatrist; Dr. Jaspreet Singh, Dr. Abhishek, and Dr. Maninder Singh, Medical Officers.
