A continuing medical education (CME) programme organised by the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, TB Hospital, Government Medical College, Patiala, concluded today. Around 150 delegates attended the concluding session. A workshop on non-invasive ventilation, conducted by a team of pulmonologists and intensivists on February 22, was attended by chest specialists, medicine specialists and anaesthetists with hands-on sessions at three stations.

Today, the experts from the field of pulmonology from Delhi NCR, the PGI, the Government Medical College & Hospital in Chandigarh, Haryana and Rajasthan shared their knowledge about the recent developments in the field.

Dr Deepak Talwar highlighted the new biological drugs and their use in bronchial asthma. Rationale use of antibiotics in pneumonias was discussed at length by a panel of experts moderated by Dr GC Khilnani.

Dr SK Jindal and Dr Ashutosh N Aggarwal discussed smoking-related diseases, approach to their prevention and recent changes in the guidelines of management with attention to non-pharmacological therapy. Lectures on new treatment regimens for tuberculosis were delivered by Dr KK Chopra and Dr Ashwani Khanna, highlighting the national target of TB elimination by 2025. —TNS
