Patiala, June 28

Volvo buses of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) from Punjab to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) from now onwards drop passengers at Terminal 3. Earlier, PRTC buses used to drop the passengers at Passenger Terminal Complex (PTC), which is 100 m away from the T3. The Tribune had highlighted the issue last week.

The PRTC had claimed communication gap between the transport corporation and Delhi airport parking officials had led to harassment of passengers for a few days. It is learnt the PRTC will have to pay Rs 500 per bus to drop passengers at T3.

However, this is an ad hoc arrangement as the PRTC has yet to sign an agreement with the airport parking authorities. A senior official said, “We are trying to convince the airport authorities to park and pick passengers from T3 or nearby as private operators do. If it happens, more passengers will opt for PRTC buses.”
