The regular employees below the sub-divisional officer (SDO) rank went on a three-day mass leave on Tuesday to press for their long-standing demands. Among their key demands were compensation and job provisions for the families of deceased workers.

The strike is the latest escalation in an ongoing protest, initially led by linemen, which has been underway for over a month.

The protesting staff is demanding compensation and job provisions for the families of those linemen who died during repairs and the regularisation of contractual employees. There are also demands for higher grade pay, arrears of the Pay Commission and increased safety measures.
