The Punjab Language Department held a trilingual poetry session today. Jasvir Singh Jassi Sohian, chairman of the district planning committee, Patiala, was the chief guest.

Sardar Panchhi, a prominent figure in Urdu literature, and special guest Padma Shri Pran Sabharwal also graced the occasion.

Director Harpreet Kaur shared information about the projects being undertaken by the department to promote Punjabi.

Sohian praised the efforts made through such events to connect the new generation with ‘quality’ literature. He congratulated the directors of the department, Harpreet Kaur and her team.

Poet Sardar Panchhi spoke about the beauty of the Punjabi language, and also recited a selection of Urdu and Hindi poetry.

Pran Sabharwal said his relationship with the language department is very old, and most of his stage presentations are prepared in this department. He appreciated the department’s efforts to promote the language.

Dr Rajwant Kaur’s Punjabi book “Nari Parvaz” and Sunita Sabharwal’s book “Kuchh Bol Anita” were released on the occasion.
