Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrests ASI for accepting Rs 20,000 bribe in Patiala
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested ASI Amrik Singh, posted at the Patran police station in Patiala district, for accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
According to a VB spokesperson, the arrest followed a complaint by Ashok Kumar, a Patran resident, who alleged that ASI Amrik Singh demanded Rs 20,000 to submit a cancellation report in court regarding a case registered against Kumar and his associates.
After verifying the complaint, a VB team laid a trap and caught ASI Amrik Singh accepting the bribe from Kumar in the presence of two official witnesses.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station in Patiala Range. Further investigation is underway.
