The Tribune had highlighted filling of these posts on an ad hoc basis to lower-level officials. The university had earlier allocated the work of the Registrar’s office to Dr Rakesh Kumar, professor in-charge (finance), while the Dean, Research, Dr GS Batra was executing the work of Dean, Academics, for over seven months.

On Monday, the university allocated the work of the Dean, Academics, to Dr Amritpal Kaur, professor, Department of Punjabi Literary Studies. Currently, she is abroad on leave and can’t join the office due to the restrictions on travelling. Therefore, as per the notification released from the office of the University Registrar, Dr GS Batra will continue to look after the work of the office of the Dean, Academics. Vice-Chancellor Dr BS Ghuman has allocated the work of the Registrar’s office to Dr Devinder Pal Singh Sidhu, who has been functioning as a professor (management) at the Punjabi University Regional Centre for Information Technology and Management, Mohali. Dr Sidhu has been transferred from the Mohali centre to the university campus. In the past month, the university had appointed four faculty members to execute the work of the Registrar’s office.
