Punjabi University’s classical music conference to begin tomorrow

The three-day 11th Rababi Bhai Mardana Classical Music Conference, organised by the Gurmat Sangeet Chair of Punjabi University, will commence on March 19 at the Kala Bhavan Auditorium.

The conference will begin on the first day with a Rabab recital by Bikramjit Singh from Ludhiana. This will be followed by a Tabla Jugalbandi performance by Shavan Singh and Sahildeep Singh. Finally, Anmol Mohsin Bali from Jalandhar will perform classical vocal music.

The second day of the event will be dedicated to the renowned musician of Patiala, the late Principal Shamsher Singh Kareer, with classical vocal performances by Prof Harpreet Singh and Husanbir Singh Pannu.

For a special presentation, Soumitra Thakur, a prominent Sitar player from the Maihar Gharana in Delhi, will grace the occasion.

Principal Shamsher Singh Kareer Smriti Award will be presented to Pandit Ramakant, a renowned Tabla player from the Punjab Gharana.
