Rajindra Lake project report approved, tenders soon: Patiala DC

The tender for this project will be floated next week and water filled into the lake within one month
The administration plans to develop the lake as a tourist spot.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Preeti Yadav has announced that the detailed project report (DPR) for permanently storing water in Rajindra Lake and developing it as a tourist spot has been approved by the State Level Technical Committee. The tender for this project will be floated next week and water filled into the lake within one month.

During a meeting with officials from various departments, including Municipal Corporation Commissioner Paramvir Singh, ADCs Isha Singhal and Navreet Kaur Sekhon, the Deputy Commissioner stated that all road repairs in the city would be completed within the next three months.

She further said the MC was float a tender for the development of Rajindra Lake within a week, while the Drainage Department has completed 40 per cent of the pipeline work for filling it.

Besides, proposals have also been prepared the makeover of Baradari and Environment Park.

To expand the green belt area within the city, the Forest Department, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation, will plant saplings along the banks of Badi Nadi, on the Sirhind Bypass, Jail Road, Defense Area, Kesar Bagh and Nabha Road.

Along with the renovation of Leela Bhawan Chowk, other squares in the city will also be beautified, for which the Public Works Department is inviting tenders. Also present at the occasion were Municipal Corporation Superintending Engineer Harkiran Singh, Divisional Forest Officer Gurmanpreet Singh, Executive Engineers Piyush Agarwal and Pratham Gambhir.
