Amloh Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gary Baring today during a surprise check found no Safai Sewaks on duty despite the clerk telling him that all of them were present on site.

The MLA called for the attendance register and found that all of them had been marked present till March 31.

He brought the matter to the notice of the authorities, following which sanitary clerk Laxman Mehta and sanitation mate Paramjit of were suspended on charges of dereliction of duty.

Besides, show-cause notices were issued to Sanitary Inspector Husan Lal and Executive Officer.
