Residents of Patiala are expressing their anger over graffiti depicting spiritual symbols and text being found on the footpath of Leela Bhawan Chowk.

The graffiti, believed to have been painted during the night, was discovered by some residents Wednesday morning.

The incident has sparked concerns over the potential motive behind the act.

Patiala Municipal Corporation Secretary Sunil Mehta said the matter had been reported to the civic authorities, adding that appropriate measures were being taken to remove it.

Residents of Ajit Nagar, Hira Nagar, Brar Steet and Ahluwalia Colony have condemned the incident, with one stating that footpaths are for walking, not displaying religious symbols.

Ramesh Kumar of Ajit Nagar urged individuals to refrain from such acts, while Davinder Singh of Hira Nagar demanded that the police investigate the matter thoroughly and apprehend those responsible.

Later during the day, the graffiti was painted over.
