The Department of Political Science of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, conducted a special lecture on “Emerging Trends in Punjab Politics”.

Professor Jamshid Ali Khan was the key speaker. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Pritpal Singh inaugurated the event, whereas Dean Academic Affairs Professor Sukhwinder Singh Billing presided over the event. Ramandeep Kaur, In-charge of the department, welcomed the guests and shared the academic and administrative achievements of Professor Jamshid Ali Khan.

Professor Khan shared his views on the ever-changing nature of the party system in the politics of Punjab. He discussed the decline of the left-wing parties and the increasing trend of politicians switching parties in the politics of Punjab.

He also discussed trends like increasing use of social media in politics, politics of freebies and regional issues being negative in Punjab politics.

Professor Harvinder Singh Bhatti, Department of Sociology, Professor Jaspal Kaur Kang and Dr Hardev Singh, Head of Department of Religious Studies, faculty and students of various departments were present on the occasion.
