Teej was celebrated at Senior Secondary Model School, Punjabi University, Patiala, on Wednesday. Teej signifies the culmination of ‘sawan’ and is celebrated the state over.

Students came dressed in colourful Punjabi costumes. They performed gidha and bhangra to Punjabi folk songs. Dr Regina Maini, senior medical officer of the university, was the chief guest at the event. Students Jasmeen Kaur Saini and Aamin delivered speeches. Other than popular dances, a mehndi-applying competition was also organised.

Principal Balwinder Kaur appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers. Satbir Singh, who organised the function, proposed the vote of thanks. Refreshment was also distributed among the students at the end of the programme.
