A day after The Tribune highlighted the inconvenience being faced by residents due to barricades, Patiala MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli today directed the removal of barriers placed on the road leading from Leela Bhawan to Badungar Chowk.

Kohli took the step following a request from the Leela Bhawan Market Association.

The MLA said to address the issue of traffic jams in the city, the traffic police were conducting trials by blocking cuts on several roads to provide relief to residents and passersby.

He said several new arrangements were being made in the city so that people do not face any difficulty and there were no traffic jams.

The MLA said the traffic police had also blocked cuts on the Income Tax Office Road. However, the Leela Bhawan Market Association president Rakesh Jain had demanded that the blockade must be removed as it was causing problems in the market area. Kohli reached the spot and directed the removal of the barricades.

The market association also demanded that the road from Chawla Chicken to HDFC Bank should be made one-way for an hour during the school closing time near Leela Bhawan, following which Kohli issued necessary instructions to the traffic police.

Besdies, the traffic police have also been asked to deploy a personnel to remove traffic obstructions from the Income Tax Office Road so that people do not face any problem.

The Leela Bhawan Market Association members thanked Ajitpal Singh Kohli.
