The district police claimed to have arrested three thieves and recovered gold ornaments, Rs 40,000 in cash and a motorcycle from them.

The suspects were identified as Bir Singh, alias Babbar, a resident of the Humayunpur area of Sirhind, Ravinder Singh, alias Minta, of the Brahman Majra area of Sirhind and Satnam Singh, alias Sattu, a resident of Mandi Gobindgarh.

DSP Sukhnaj Singh said a teacher, Hardeep Kaur of Golden City, Sirhind, had complained to the police that she returned home from school on July 22 around 2.40 pm and found the locks broken and gold jewellery and cash missing. He said after scrutinising the CCTV footage, the police identified the thieves and nabbed them.
