The Rajpura police have registered a case against three members of a family, including two women, for abetment to suicide.

In his complaint, Sukhchain Singh, a resident of Ludhiana, said his sister Sandeep Kaur (25) got married to Amrik Singh in March 2018. The complainant said his sister’s in-laws used to harass and fight with her regularly after marriage.

The reason

His sister committed suicide due to continuous harassment by her in-laws on April 12, the complainant added. Notably, the victim committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan.

The police said a case had been registered against victim’s husband Amrik Singh, his mother Rani and his sister Balwinder Kaur, all residents of Rajpura under Sections 306 (Abetment to suicide) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
