Two arrested for firing gunshots

The police have arrested two persons in a firing case in which two men were injured on Sunday night.

The police have also recovered pistol used in the crime from their possession. The suspects have been identified as Sushil Kumar Kamboj of Ghuman Nagar and Sukhdev Singh of Salaria Vihar here.

SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said the suspects entered into an altercation with a group of men, who were returning from a wedding on the Patiala-Rajpura road. Later, they stopped them near Urban Estate, Phase 3, and fired gunshots at them in which Harpreet Singh and Gurwinder Singh were injured. The two suspects then fled from the spot.

The police said a case had been registered under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the IPC. The police said the suspects would be presented in the court tomorrow.
