Patiala, September 20

The Womens’ Studies Centre, Punjabi University, here on Monday released a project report on “Phulkari : Reviving and sustaining the traditional handicraft of Punjab”.

The project was sponsored by the Centre for Women Development Studies, New Delhi, and completed by the Director, Women Studies Centre, Prof Dr Ritu Lehal, and other teaching faculty.

Officials said they went to a number of villages and discussed issues and problems faced by artisans. The team has also given recommendations for the survival and sustenance of ‘Phulkari’. During release ceremony, centre officials also shared past major projects and plays in recorded form.
