VB arrests deed writer for demanding Rs 5.5 lakh bribe in Fatehgarh Sahib

The Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Anupam Sharma, a deed writer at Fatehgarh Sahib, for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 5.5 lakh on behalf of the Bassi Pathana Sub-Registrar.

An official spokesperson of the VB said the deed writer was arrested on the basis of an online complaint filed by a Bassi Pathana resident on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line. He said the complainant alleged that the deed writer had demanded bribe on behalf of the Bassi Pathana tehsil Sub-Registrar in connection with the execution of registration of properties.

The complainant had recorded conversation between him and the deed writer and Sub-Registrar. He said during investigation, the VB found the allegations to be true leading to the arrest of the accused deed writer. He said a case was registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station, Patiala range. The accused would be produced before a competent court tomorrow, the spokesperson said. He said the role of Bassi Pathana Sub-Registrar would be examined during further investigation.
