The residents of Talania village led by the local councillor today staged a protest outside the Government High Smart School against the transfer of a Punjabi teacher. The protesters called for the immediate cancellation of the transfer order.

Addressing the media, Baisakhi Ram Councilor said teacher Seema Rani had been teaching at the school for the last 20 years with dedication towards the students.

“After her transfer, most of the students have not been attending the school. Both students and their parents have been demanding that the transfer orders be cancelled, else the students will not attend class,” he said, adding that their agitation will intensify if no action is taken.

Rajpal Kaur, head teacher of the school, said the teacher in question has been transferred as per the orders from the DEO. She said it was a temporary transfer, but added that she would apprise the DEO Office regarding the demand.
