A drug peddler was arrested here on Sunday following an exchange of fire, in which he sustained a bullet injury, a police officer said.

The accused, identified as Balwinder Singh, alias Balli, sustained a bullet injury in retaliating firing by the police at Manne Wala Road in Jalalabad town of Fazilka.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varinder Singh Brar said Balwinder, a resident of Aggarwal Colony, Jalalabad, was involved in selling narcotics in the area.

The police officer said the accused had already been facing an NDPS Act case for smuggling 1.8 kg heroin.
