Construction is going on at the railway station as part of a government initiative to modernise it. In the morning, some labourers found “some suspicious things” and alerted to the railway police office in that regard.

A police team led by Gurdaspur city police station SHO Mohan Singh and Bikramjit Singh Singh of the Government Railway Police reached the spot and took the shells into their possession, which were in highly rusted condition.

The Gurdaspur police later requisitioned a bomb-disposal squad from Amritsar. “We are investigating and will come out with more details soon,” said a police officer.
