After witnessing a dip in farm fires for a few days, the state reported 108 such cases on Saturday.

Tarn Taran reported 24 farm fire incidents, followed by Ferozepur (19), Patiala (11), Amritsar (10) and Sangrur (10).

In all, 1,857 farm fires have been reported in the state this year so far. The number such incidents stood at 3,293 during the corresponding period last year.

Amritsar continues to top the list with 472 incidents, followed by Tarn Taran (362), Patiala (236), Sangrur (164) and Ferozepur (177).

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
